Dig Another Well: Understanding God's Principles Concerning Yielding of Rights

The person who "gives in" rather than demanding his rights is usually thought of as being the weaker. In reality, the more spiritually mature person will usually be the one who yields his rights. The man who "wins" when his personal rights have been violated is really the "loser." In Gen. 26 Isaac had settled in Gerar and needed water. He had his servants dig a well. It was long, hard, dangerous, backbreaking work. Then the herdsmen of Gerar said "the water is ours." And Isaac said to his men, "It's alright, fellows. DIG ANOTHER WELL!" Incredibly, the same thing happened a second time! The 3rd well was named "Rehoboth" meaning "ample room." The committed Christian should always ask, "Is this for me and my rights or for God and His rights?" Defend God's rights. Yield your's. THE CHRISTIAN'S GREATEST RIGHT IS THE RIGHT TO NOT DEMAND HIS RIGHTS.

One of the key reasons for conflicts among different families as well as between families and churches is that people do not understand the jurisdictional lines between the "houses" God created. Each "house" must influence other "houses" in a positive manner without ever crossing over and undermining the authority of another "house." The "house" of the home must have the "church house" and the "state house" standing behind it, but the church and state must be careful to not undermine the home. Authority may at times be delegated; it must never be relinquished. For one "house" to cross the lines of authority drawn by God and undermine another "house" is as devastating as if the U. S. army were to cross over into Mexico and try to take land that belongs to that nation.

Nothing Shall Offend Them

A key verse every Christian should engraft into his life is Psalm 119:165: "Great peace have they which love thy law, and nothing shall offend them." The Bible and human life are full of stories of people who became offended or took up someone else's offense. True to the meaning of the word "offense," which is "stumbling block," those who become offended often stumble and fall or cause others to do so. David was a wise, gracious man who almost acted foolishly because he became offended at the unreasonable, ungrateful actions of the fool Nabal. But it is not only possible to get offended because of wrong actions. Many people get offended when someone does right! And some people get offended without any reason at all! For many years this was Dr. Davis' most well known and requested message. Some consider it his most humorous message. Here you will learn the key principles necessary for Christians to live in harmony with one another.

Understanding Loyalty in a Disloyal World

King David's name is mentioned more than any other name in the Bible. Both David's life and the lives of those who surrounded him are powerful examples of loyalty and disloyalty. This message zeros in on Joab, David's General, but also studies Abishai, Ittai, Saul, Jonathan, Ahithophel, Absalom, Asahel, Amasa, and Nathan the prophet. The 12 principles seen in the lives of these key men are: 1 - Wisely and consciously choose those to whom you give your loyalty. 2 - Give loyalty to people and positions, not just to personalities. 3 - Loyalty to human leadership is really loyalty to God Himself. 4 - Loyalty is needed to make you what you ought to be. 5 - A loyal person seeks to understand both the words and the heart of his leader. 6 - Loyalty is seen the clearest when the opportunity for disloyalty is the greatest. 7 - A person demonstrates where his loyalties lie by those to whom he passes praise. 8 - Loyalty is destroyed by bitterness or becoming offended. 9 - A loyal person will not "...

When God's Will Becomes Multiple Choice
Our Price:$6.97CAD         »More info...     »     »Add to Wish List
The will of God is not only delightful, it is also much more clear and precise than many people think. But when certain sins come, the perfect will of God leaves. If a man divorces his wife and marries another woman, suddenly that which was clear becomes unclear. Simple questions such as what do we do with the house, the car, the money, or the children(!) become difficult questions. When one leaves the perfect will of God, then he faces multiple consequences. David left God's perfect will and was offered his choice of three consequences. The choices were all bad ones! When faced with a multiple choice decision: (1) Give God, not man, the benefit of the doubt. (2) Seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit or give the decision to someone who is led by the Holy Spirit. (3) Make the most selfless decision possible. (4) Don't let your situation divide others. (5) Evidence true repentance.
